Add watermark

Put your name, a date or "CONFIDENTIAL" across images and PDF pages. Files are processed in your browser and never uploaded.

How it works

  1. Drop images or PDFs anywhere on this page.
  2. Type the text or pick a logo; choose the layout, angle, size, opacity, color and font. The preview shows the first file as it will come out.
  3. Download each file or all of them as a ZIP.

Watermarks that do their job

A tiled, faint text across the whole picture discourages reuse of photos you post or send for review. A large diagonal DRAFT or CONFIDENTIAL in the center tells readers at a glance what a document is. A small line in a corner, a name or a date, credits a photo without spoiling it. For a copy of an ID or a passport, write what it is for and when, across the picture, so the copy cannot be reused for something else.

Settings that make the difference

Opacity starts at 30, enough to be read without hiding the content; go higher for a stamp, lower for a photo credit. The angle is 30 degrees by default, tilted enough to be hard to crop out. Size and margin are set relative to the short side of each file, so a batch of mixed sizes comes out consistent.

Outline adds a contrasting edge so the text reads on both light and dark areas, which a photo with sky and shadow needs. Tiled uses the spacing setting; the nine fixed positions use the margin. On PDFs, the Pages field limits the stamp to, say, the first page or a range like 2-5.

Images and PDFs behave differently

On an image the watermark becomes part of the pixels, and the file is saved again: JPG at quality 90 by default, PNG without loss, or the format you choose. On a PDF the text or logo is added as a layer on each page, so the original text stays selectable and the file hardly grows. Up to 50 files of up to 200 MB each take the same stamp in one run, all stamped on your device, with the logo kept in this browser only if you ask.

Why people use it

  • Free, no account

Every tool is free, with no sign-up, no e-mail address and no limit on how often you use it.

  • Your files stay on your device

The browser opens the file and processes it in memory, on your device. Nothing is uploaded, so nothing can be kept, leaked or looked at.

  • No watermark

The result is yours as it is: no watermark, no branding, no trial version.

  • Any device

A phone, a tablet or a computer with a current browser is enough: no app to install, no software to update.

  • Works offline after the first visit

The browser keeps the pages and their engines, so a tool you have opened once keeps working without a connection.

  • Open-source engines

The code that does the work is open-source software, named on the Licences page, running as WebAssembly in your browser.

Why it is private

Everything you type or drop here is handled by your browser, on your device. Nothing is uploaded. To verify, open your browser's developer tools, go to the Network tab, and use the tool: you will see no request carrying your data.

While a file is being processed, the counter under the result shows the page's network traffic: 0 requests and 0 B for your data.

How to check it yourself, step by step

What you can check yourself

Open your browser's developer tools on the Network tab before you drop a file: while the tool works you will see no request carrying your data, and the counter under every result shows the page's own measurement.

The site sets no cookies, so there is no cookie banner. Anonymous usage counts and error reports without file names are the only things that leave the page, as the privacy policy describes.

Every change goes through thousands of automated tests in three browser engines, including a guard that fails a test if a single byte of a file leaves the page.

How we test

Frequently asked questions

Can I use a logo instead of text?
Yes: switch the watermark to "Logo / image" and pick a PNG, JPG, WebP or SVG. It goes on the same grid or tile, with the same angle and opacity. The logo stays in your browser, and on this device only if you ask to remember it.
Does the PDF text stay selectable?
Yes. The watermark is drawn as an extra text layer on each page; the original content is untouched.
Which letters work on PDFs?
Any. Plain Latin text uses the built-in Helvetica, Times or Courier; letters beyond that (ș, ț, Cyrillic, Greek) are drawn with an embedded DejaVu font, so "CONFIDENȚIAL" comes out as typed. Only characters that font lacks (Chinese, Japanese, Korean) become "?", and the result says so.
Are my files uploaded?
No. Images are stamped on a canvas in a Web Worker, PDFs with pdf-lib; nothing leaves your device.
Can I add a watermark on my phone?
Yes, in the browser. Pick the photos or the PDF, type the text, check the preview and download; nothing is installed or uploaded.
Can I watermark only the first page of a PDF?
Yes. Type 1 in the Pages field; ranges like 1-3, 5 work too. Leave it empty to stamp every page.
Can a watermark be removed?
On an image it is merged into the pixels, so removing it cleanly is hard but not impossible with editing software. On a PDF it is a layer that an editor could delete. A watermark deters and labels; it does not lock.
Can I stamp many photos with the same settings?
Yes, up to 50 per run. The text, position, size and opacity apply to all, scaled to each image, and the results download as one ZIP.
Does it lower the quality of my photos?
A JPG is re-encoded at the quality you set (90 by default), which is hard to tell from the original; choose PNG as the output for no loss at all. PDFs are not re-encoded.

Install it as an app

Chrome, Edge and Android browsers offer to install this site from the address bar or the menu; on iPhone use Share, then Add to Home Screen. It opens like an app, keeps working offline and still processes everything on your device.
