Video tools
Cut, join, reframe and lighten videos, add music, turn clips into GIFs or pull out the sound. Everything runs on your device with the browser's own codecs; nothing is uploaded.

What the video tools do
Compress video shrinks an MP4, MOV, WebM or MKV with your browser's own hardware encoder: pick a quality, a maximum resolution and a frame rate, or a target size such as 16 MB for WhatsApp. Video to GIF cuts a few seconds into an animated GIF with a shared palette and dithering, so it looks good and stays small. Extract audio pulls the sound out as MP3, M4A, OGG or WAV, copying the stream without re-encoding when it already fits.
The editing tools: Trim cuts the start, the end or parts out; Merge joins clips in the order you set; Add audio puts music or a voice-over on a clip, replacing or mixed with its sound; Crop reframes to 9:16, 1:1 or 16:9; Rotate turns a sideways clip; Flip mirrors it; Resize sets 1080p, 720p or a social size; Loop repeats a clip or makes a boomerang; Change volume and Change speed do what they say, with voices kept at their pitch. Trim, Loop, Add audio, Change volume and Merge of clips from the same camera copy the picture as it is, so they take seconds and lose nothing; a quarter turn in Rotate is an orientation flag in the MP4 and copies too. Crop, Flip, Resize, a boomerang and a smooth speed change redraw every frame and re-encode it with your browser's encoder.
Formats, limits and privacy
Input: anything your browser can play (H.264, H.265 where the device supports it, VP9, AV1, AAC, Opus, MP3). Output codecs depend on the browser: Chrome and Safari write H.264 MP4, Firefox writes VP9 and WebM. Files are read in pieces, so a 2 GB clip works on a laptop; on a phone the memory is the practical limit. Encoding runs in a Web Worker on your device and nothing is uploaded; the screen stays awake while a long job runs.

Questions
- Why does it take so long?
- Encoding happens on your processor, not on a server farm, so a long or high-resolution clip takes a while. Lowering the maximum resolution speeds it up the most.
- Why is my result a WebM instead of an MP4?
- Firefox has no H.264 encoder, so it writes VP9. The result says so; choose MP4 in Chrome or Safari if a player needs it.
- Is the audio kept?
- Yes, when the browser can encode it (AAC or Opus). When it cannot, the result tells you the track was left out.
- What does "copied without re-encoding" mean?
- The compressed picture is moved into the new file as it is, instead of being decoded and encoded again: no quality is lost and even a long clip takes seconds. The result says when this happened.
- Why does my trimmed clip start a little early?
- A copied cut can only start on a keyframe, often every one or two seconds, so it moves to the one just before your mark and the result says by how much. Tick Precise cut for an exact cut: the clip is then re-encoded, which takes longer.
