How it works
- Drop a PDF anywhere on this page.
- Choose "every page" for one PDF per page (as a ZIP), or enter the pages to extract, like 1-3, 5, 8-.
- Download the result.
Four ways to split
Every page separately gives one PDF per page in a ZIP, for a batch of certificates or letters scanned as one file. Every N pages cuts the document into chunks of 2 pages by default, right for invoices or forms that each take two sheets; set any number up to 500. Into N equal parts is for a long scan that must fit several attachments. Extract pages takes the ranges you type, like 1-3, 5, 8-, into one new PDF, or one PDF per range if you tick that option.
Picking pages without typing
The page strip under the options shows the document; click pages to add them to or remove them from the field, and the field stays in charge so you can still edit it. An open-ended range such as 8- means to the end, so you do not need to know the page count. Up to 20 PDFs of up to 200 MB each can be split in one run with the same rule, each giving its own result.
What stays and what to do next
Pages are copied as they are, with fonts and images, so nothing loses quality and the parts together are about as large as the original. The split happens on your device, so a bank statement is never uploaded. A certificate-based signature does not survive the new files, because each is written anew. From here, Merge PDF rebuilds a selection, Rotate PDF fixes a sideways part and Protect PDF locks the one you are about to send.
Why people use it
Free, no account
Every tool is free, with no sign-up, no e-mail address and no limit on how often you use it.
Your files stay on your device
The browser opens the file and processes it in memory, on your device. Nothing is uploaded, so nothing can be kept, leaked or looked at.
No watermark
The result is yours as it is: no watermark, no branding, no trial version.
Any device
A phone, a tablet or a computer with a current browser is enough: no app to install, no software to update.
Works offline after the first visit
The browser keeps the pages and their engines, so a tool you have opened once keeps working without a connection.
Open-source engines
The code that does the work is open-source software, named on the Licences page, running as WebAssembly in your browser.
Why it is private
Everything you type or drop here is handled by your browser, on your device. Nothing is uploaded. To verify, open your browser's developer tools, go to the Network tab, and use the tool: you will see no request carrying your data.
While a file is being processed, the counter under the result shows the page's network traffic: 0 requests and 0 B for your data.
How to check it yourself, step by step
What you can check yourself
Open your browser's developer tools on the Network tab before you drop a file: while the tool works you will see no request carrying your data, and the counter under every result shows the page's own measurement.
The site sets no cookies, so there is no cookie banner. Anonymous usage counts and error reports without file names are the only things that leave the page, as the privacy policy describes.
Every change goes through thousands of automated tests in three browser engines, including a guard that fails a test if a single byte of a file leaves the page.
Frequently asked questions
- How do I write a page range?
- Use commas and dashes: "1-3, 5, 8-" means pages 1 to 3, page 5, and 8 to the end.
- What does "every page" produce?
- A ZIP with one PDF per page, numbered in order.
- Can I split several PDFs at once?
- Yes, up to 20 files per batch; each produces its own result.
- Is the PDF uploaded?
- No. Splitting runs with pdf-lib in your browser; the file never leaves your device.
- Can I split a PDF on my phone?
- Yes, in the browser. Single results download as PDF; a set of pages comes as a ZIP that the Files app or the Android file manager opens.
- Can I extract a single page?
- Yes. Choose Extract pages and type its number, for example 7; the result is a one-page PDF.
- Can I split a PDF into parts of a given size in MB?
- No, the split is by pages. Use Into N equal parts to get a few evenly sized files, then Compress PDF if a part is still too large.
- Does splitting lower the quality?
- No. Pages are moved into the new files unchanged; scans, fonts and images are not re-encoded.
- Can I save each chapter as its own file?
- Yes. Type one range per chapter, separated by commas, and tick One PDF per range; each range becomes a numbered PDF in the ZIP.
Install it as an app
Chrome, Edge and Android browsers offer to install this site from the address bar or the menu; on iPhone use Share, then Add to Home Screen. It opens like an app, keeps working offline and still processes everything on your device.
