Convert image

Turn iPhone HEIC photos, PNGs, WebP or AVIF into JPG, PNG, WebP or AVIF, in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.

Options

How it works

  1. Drop one or more images anywhere on this page, or paste from the clipboard.
  2. Choose the output format and, for lossy formats, the quality.
  3. Download a single file or all of them as a ZIP.

HEIC and the formats that matter

The most common job is an iPhone photo in HEIC that a form, a website or a Windows computer refuses: choose JPG, the default at quality 88, and it opens anywhere. PNG is for screenshots, logos and anything with transparency; WebP for pictures on a site, where it is much smaller than JPG at the same look; AVIF smaller still, but slow on large pictures. TIFF scans, BMP exports and JPEG XL files convert the same way.

Transparency, background and size

When a transparent PNG becomes a JPG, Background sets the colour that fills the empty areas, white by default, so a logo does not end up on black. Max size caps the longest side, which turns a 12-megapixel photo into a web-sized picture in the same pass. Sharper text keeps full colour detail for screenshots and scans with small type. ICO builds a favicon with entries from 16 to 256 pixels from a single square source.

Batches and what is removed

Up to 50 images of up to 100 MB each convert in one list and come back as a ZIP. The image is rebuilt from its pixels in your browser, so GPS position and the embedded thumbnail are gone unless you tick Keep camera data for a JPEG, which copies the camera and exposure fields and still leaves the location out. Nothing is uploaded.

Why people use it

  • Free, no account

Every tool is free, with no sign-up, no e-mail address and no limit on how often you use it.

  • Your files stay on your device

The browser opens the file and processes it in memory, on your device. Nothing is uploaded, so nothing can be kept, leaked or looked at.

  • No watermark

The result is yours as it is: no watermark, no branding, no trial version.

  • Any device

A phone, a tablet or a computer with a current browser is enough: no app to install, no software to update.

  • Works offline after the first visit

The browser keeps the pages and their engines, so a tool you have opened once keeps working without a connection.

  • Open-source engines

The code that does the work is open-source software, named on the Licences page, running as WebAssembly in your browser.

Why it is private

Everything you type or drop here is handled by your browser, on your device. Nothing is uploaded. To verify, open your browser's developer tools, go to the Network tab, and use the tool: you will see no request carrying your data.

While a file is being processed, the counter under the result shows the page's network traffic: 0 requests and 0 B for your data.

How to check it yourself, step by step

What you can check yourself

Open your browser's developer tools on the Network tab before you drop a file: while the tool works you will see no request carrying your data, and the counter under every result shows the page's own measurement.

The site sets no cookies, so there is no cookie banner. Anonymous usage counts and error reports without file names are the only things that leave the page, as the privacy policy describes.

Every change goes through thousands of automated tests in three browser engines, including a guard that fails a test if a single byte of a file leaves the page.

How we test

Frequently asked questions

Does HEIC from iPhone work?
Yes. HEIC and HEIF files are decoded with libheif in your browser. Live Photos convert to a still image.
Which format should I pick?
JPG for photos you need to share anywhere; PNG for screenshots, logos and transparency; WebP or AVIF for the smallest files on the web.
What happens to transparency when converting to JPG?
JPG has no transparency, so transparent areas become white. Pick PNG or WebP to keep them.
Is metadata kept?
Not by default: the image is rebuilt from pixels, which removes EXIF, GPS location and the embedded thumbnail; orientation is applied first. With “Keep camera data” and a JPEG output, the camera, lens, date and exposure fields are copied over from a JPEG or HEIC/AVIF source, still without the location and the thumbnail. PNG, WebP, GIF and BMP sources carry nothing over, and the result says so. A color profile that the decoder did not already apply (Display P3 from an iPhone) is written into JPEG and PNG outputs.
Which formats can I convert between?
In: JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, HEIC/HEIF, GIF, BMP, TIFF, ICO, SVG and JPEG XL. Out: JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, BMP, ICO and JPEG XL. Animated GIF and WebP give their first frame; TIFF gives its first page; an SVG is drawn at the size you set.
Can I convert HEIC to JPG on the iPhone itself?
Yes. Open the page in Safari, pick the photos from your library, choose JPG and download or share the result. Nothing is installed.
Can I make a favicon?
Yes: choose ICO and drop a square PNG or SVG. The file holds several sizes, from 16 to 256 pixels, so browsers pick the one they need.
Does converting PNG to JPG lose quality?
A little: JPG is lossy, and at the default quality of 88 the loss is hard to see on photos. For a screenshot with small text, raise the quality or stay with PNG.
Can I convert a PDF page to an image here?
No. This tool takes pictures only; use PDF to JPG, which turns each page into an image.
What happens to an animated GIF or WebP?
You get the first frame as a still image. The animation itself is not converted.

Install it as an app

Chrome, Edge and Android browsers offer to install this site from the address bar or the menu; on iPhone use Share, then Add to Home Screen. It opens like an app, keeps working offline and still processes everything on your device.
