Crop video
Drag a frame over the picture, or pick a shape such as 9:16 for Reels and TikTok or 1:1 for a square post. Only the inside of the frame is kept; the sound is copied as it is, and everything runs on your device.

How it works
- Drop a video anywhere on this page.
- Drag the frame or its corners on the picture, choose a shape, or type the pixels.
- Press Crop video and download the result.
Reels, TikTok and square posts
A landscape clip has to become vertical for Reels, Shorts and TikTok: choose 9:16, slide the frame over the subject and press Crop video. 1:1 makes a square post and 4:5 the taller portrait format feeds show largest. The preview plays the result so you can check that nothing important is cut off at the sides. For an exact pixel size such as 1080×1920, send the crop on to Resize video.
Removing what sits at the edges
Black bars from a letterboxed recording, a status bar in a screen recording, a logo stuck in a corner, a stranger at the side of the shot: anything at the edge of the picture goes when the frame excludes it. Type the Left, Top, Width and Height in pixels for a repeatable cut, for instance the same frame for a series of screen recordings; sizes are rounded to even numbers because encoders require it.
Quality, time and phones
The picture is re-encoded at a bitrate that follows the source's own, so the loss is hard to see, and the sound is copied as it is. One video at a time, up to 2 GB. The encoding happens in your browser on your own processor, so the clip never leaves your device; a long clip takes a while, and more so on a phone.
Why people use it
Free, no account
Every tool is free, with no sign-up, no e-mail address and no limit on how often you use it.
Your files stay on your device
The browser opens the file and processes it in memory, on your device. Nothing is uploaded, so nothing can be kept, leaked or looked at.
No watermark
The result is yours as it is: no watermark, no branding, no trial version.
Any device
A phone, a tablet or a computer with a current browser is enough: no app to install, no software to update.
Works offline after the first visit
The browser keeps the pages and their engines, so a tool you have opened once keeps working without a connection.
Open-source engines
The code that does the work is open-source software, named on the Licences page, running as WebAssembly in your browser.
Why it is private
Everything you type or drop here is handled by your browser, on your device. Nothing is uploaded. To verify, open your browser's developer tools, go to the Network tab, and use the tool: you will see no request carrying your data.
While a file is being processed, the counter under the result shows the page's network traffic: 0 requests and 0 B for your data.
How to check it yourself, step by step
What you can check yourself
Open your browser's developer tools on the Network tab before you drop a file: while the tool works you will see no request carrying your data, and the counter under every result shows the page's own measurement.
The site sets no cookies, so there is no cookie banner. Anonymous usage counts and error reports without file names are the only things that leave the page, as the privacy policy describes.
Every change goes through thousands of automated tests in three browser engines, including a guard that fails a test if a single byte of a file leaves the page.
Frequently asked questions
- Which formats can it read?
- MP4, MOV, M4V, WebM and MKV with the codecs your browser can decode (H.264, VP8, VP9 and AV1 everywhere, H.265 only where the browser has it). By default the result keeps the source's family: WebM stays WebM, MKV stays MKV, the rest becomes MP4; you can also choose MP4, WebM or MKV.
- Does cropping lower the quality?
- Cropping changes the pixels, so the picture is re-encoded, at a bitrate that follows the source's own for the smaller frame. The sound is not touched: it is copied packet for packet when the output container can hold it.
- Why are the width and height always even numbers?
- Video encoders only accept even sizes. The frame is rounded down to the nearest even pixel, so nothing is stretched.
- How do I make a vertical video for Reels, TikTok or Shorts?
- Choose 9:16 and move the frame to the part of the picture you want to keep. To get exactly 1080×1920, crop first, then use Resize video.
- Does my video get uploaded?
- No. The video is read and encoded in your browser; nothing is sent to a server. A long clip takes a while, because it runs on your own processor.
- Can I remove the black bars from a video?
- Yes. Draw the frame over the picture inside the bars, or type the exact pixels, and only that area is kept.
- Can I cut a watermark or logo out of a video?
- Only when it sits at an edge or a corner: the frame keeps a rectangle and drops the rest. Anything in the middle of the picture cannot be removed or blurred here.
- Can I crop the length of the video?
- No, cropping is about the picture. To cut the start or the end, use Trim video, before or after cropping.
- Does it work on a phone?
- Yes, in the phone's browser, with nothing to install. Drag the frame with a finger; a long clip takes a few minutes to encode on a phone.
- Can I crop several videos with the same frame?
- Not in one go: the tool takes one video at a time. Note the pixel values of the frame and type them again for the next clip.
Install it as an app
Chrome, Edge and Android browsers offer to install this site from the address bar or the menu; on iPhone use Share, then Add to Home Screen. It opens like an app, keeps working offline and still processes everything on your device.
