Flip video

Mirror a front-camera clip so text reads the right way, or flip it upside down. The picture is re-encoded at the source's quality; the sound is copied as it is, and everything runs on your device.

Flip
left and right swap places

Always re-encoded: most players ignore a mirror flag, so the pixels themselves are flipped. The sound is copied.

How it works

  1. Drop one or more videos anywhere on this page.
  2. Choose horizontal, vertical or both.
  3. Press Flip video and download the result.

Mirrored selfie videos

A front camera shows you the way a mirror does, and many apps save the clip like that: text on a T-shirt reads backwards, a logo is reversed, the room is the wrong way round. Horizontal, the default, puts it right. It also fixes a tutorial where you point left and viewers see right, and matches a clip to others filmed with the back camera.

Flip or rotate

Vertical turns the picture upside down as a mirror on the floor would; Both is the same as a half turn. A clip that is merely upside down or sideways is usually better served by Rotate video, which can often turn it by its orientation flag without re-encoding. Flip is for a true mirror image, which no flag that players honour can express.

Batches, formats and phones

Up to 5 videos of up to 2 GB can be flipped the same way in one list. The sound is copied untouched and stays in sync; the picture is re-encoded at a bitrate that follows the source's, in the browser, on your own device. Keep the format as it is, or choose MP4 so the clip plays anywhere.

Why people use it

  • Free, no account

Every tool is free, with no sign-up, no e-mail address and no limit on how often you use it.

  • Your files stay on your device

The browser opens the file and processes it in memory, on your device. Nothing is uploaded, so nothing can be kept, leaked or looked at.

  • No watermark

The result is yours as it is: no watermark, no branding, no trial version.

  • Any device

A phone, a tablet or a computer with a current browser is enough: no app to install, no software to update.

  • Works offline after the first visit

The browser keeps the pages and their engines, so a tool you have opened once keeps working without a connection.

  • Open-source engines

The code that does the work is open-source software, named on the Licences page, running as WebAssembly in your browser.

Why it is private

Everything you type or drop here is handled by your browser, on your device. Nothing is uploaded. To verify, open your browser's developer tools, go to the Network tab, and use the tool: you will see no request carrying your data.

While a file is being processed, the counter under the result shows the page's network traffic: 0 requests and 0 B for your data.

How to check it yourself, step by step

What you can check yourself

Open your browser's developer tools on the Network tab before you drop a file: while the tool works you will see no request carrying your data, and the counter under every result shows the page's own measurement.

The site sets no cookies, so there is no cookie banner. Anonymous usage counts and error reports without file names are the only things that leave the page, as the privacy policy describes.

Every change goes through thousands of automated tests in three browser engines, including a guard that fails a test if a single byte of a file leaves the page.

How we test

Frequently asked questions

Why is a flip always re-encoded?
MP4 can mark a mirror in its header, but most players and sites ignore that mark, so a video flipped by flag would look unflipped to many people. The pixels are flipped instead, which every player shows correctly.
Will I lose quality?
The picture is re-encoded at a bitrate that follows the source's own, so the difference is hard to see. The sound is not re-encoded.
Horizontal or vertical?
Horizontal swaps left and right, like a mirror (selfie videos, reversed text). Vertical turns the picture upside down as a mirror would; both together are the same as a 180° turn.
Which formats can it read?
MP4, MOV, M4V, WebM and MKV with the codecs your browser can decode. The result keeps the source's family unless you choose MP4, WebM or MKV.
Does my video get uploaded?
No. The video is processed in your browser and never leaves your device.
Can I unmirror a selfie video on my phone without an app?
Yes. Open the page in the phone's browser, drop the clip, keep Horizontal and download the result.
Does the sound stay in sync?
Yes. The sound track is copied as it is, with its timing, while only the picture is rewritten.
Can I flip only part of the video?
No, the whole clip is flipped. Cut the part out with Trim video first, flip it here, then join the pieces with Merge videos.
Can I flip several videos at once?
Yes, up to 5 in one list, all in the same direction. Each result is downloaded on its own.
Can I mirror a photo here?
No, this tool takes videos. Crop image has a Flip horizontally button that mirrors a picture.

Install it as an app

Chrome, Edge and Android browsers offer to install this site from the address bar or the menu; on iPhone use Share, then Add to Home Screen. It opens like an app, keeps working offline and still processes everything on your device.
