Random PIN generator

People choose PINs badly: 1234, birth years and repeated digits make up a large share of all codes in use. A random PIN removes the pattern. This page presets 6-digit PINs generated with cryptographic randomness; change the length to 4 or 8 to match your card, phone or alarm panel.

The digits are produced in your browser and are not sent anywhere.

Tips

  • Avoid PINs that are also dates or that repeat digits; the generator never favours any digit, but you may reject a code that looks memorable to others.
  • For phone unlock codes, 6 digits are the minimum worth using; prefer an alphanumeric passcode where possible.
  • Write the PIN only in a password manager, never on the card.

Why it is private

Everything you type or drop here is handled by your browser, on your device. Nothing is uploaded. To verify, open your browser's developer tools, go to the Network tab, and use the tool: you will see no request carrying your data.

Frequently asked questions

How random are these PINs?
They use the Web Crypto API with uniform sampling, so each digit is equally likely.
Can a 4-digit PIN be secure?
Only with a lockout after a few wrong attempts, which cards and phones have. For anything without lockout, use a long password.
