Resize image to 1080×1080
Instagram displays square posts at 1080×1080 pixels and recompresses anything larger. Uploading exactly that size means the platform has nothing to resize and your image stays as sharp as it can be. This preset fills and crops to 1080 by 1080; the same size works for Facebook square posts, LinkedIn images and most profile pictures.

The resize uses a Lanczos filter, which keeps edges crisp where a plain canvas resize would blur them. Processing is local to your browser.
Tips
- “Fill and crop” scales the photo until the square is covered and cuts out the middle, so nothing is stretched. Pick “Fit and pad” instead to keep the whole picture with a coloured border.
- Export as JPEG at quality 85–90 for photos, PNG for graphics with flat colours and text.
- For Stories and Reels covers use 1080×1920 instead: set the mode to Exact and type the numbers.
Why it is private
Everything you type or drop here is handled by your browser, on your device. Nothing is uploaded. To verify, open your browser's developer tools, go to the Network tab, and use the tool: you will see no request carrying your data.
Frequently asked questions
- Will Instagram compress my image again?
- Instagram always re-encodes, but at 1080 px wide it has nothing to downscale, so the loss is minimal.
- Can I do several images at once?
- Yes, up to 50 per batch, all resized to 1080×1080 and downloaded as a ZIP.
