Sign a PDF on your phone, with your finger
A rental contract in your inbox, a school form, a delivery note: they want a signature today and the printer is at the office. This page runs the signing tool in the phone's browser. Pick the PDF, draw your signature on the pad with a finger (turn the phone sideways for a wider pad, or use Full screen), tap Place on the page, drag it onto the line and pinch to size it. Add the date or your initials the same way, then Sign and build PDF.
What you add is an image of your handwritten signature drawn into the page, the same thing as signing a printout and scanning it. It is accepted every day for contracts between people who agree on it, forms, invoices and HR paperwork. It is not a certificate-based signature: a bank, a notary or a public body that asks for a qualified electronic signature needs a certificate and other software.
The PDF and your signature stay on the phone. Tick Remember my signature on this device and the drawing is kept in this browser's storage for next time; Forget signature removes it, and it is never sent anywhere.
Tips
- Choose blue ink: on a black-and-white document it reads as signed by hand.
- Drawing with a finger is clumsy; a thicker pen setting gives a cleaner line, and Undo stroke removes the last attempt without clearing the pad.
- Copy to every page puts the same signature in the same spot on all pages, handy for initialling a long contract.
Why it is private
Everything you type or drop here is handled by your browser, on your device. Nothing is uploaded. To verify, open your browser's developer tools, go to the Network tab, and use the tool: you will see no request carrying your data.
Frequently asked questions
- Can I type my name instead of drawing?
- Yes. Switch the source to Type, write your name and pick one of the three script styles; it is drawn on the device, like the pad. A photo of your signature on paper also works, with the paper background removed.
- Will the other side be able to tell it was signed on a phone?
- No. The result is an ordinary PDF with the signature as part of the page, which every viewer shows. A PDF editor could move or remove it, as it could with a scanned signature.
- Does it work on an iPhone?
- Yes, in Safari on a current iOS. The signed file lands in Files, under Downloads; share it to mail or a chat from there.
