Compress PDF to 1 MB
One megabyte is the classic limit of email attachments on company servers, scholarship portals and e-government uploads. Most PDFs that exceed it do so because of a few large images: a cover photo, scanned pages or a logo embedded at print resolution on every page. This preset targets 1 MB and tries the recommended level first, moving to the strong level only when needed.
Options
Images are downscaled to the resolution they are actually displayed at, re-encoded with MozJPEG, and metadata and unused objects are removed. Text and fonts stay exactly as they were. Nothing is uploaded.
Tips
- Presentations exported to PDF shrink the most: 20–40 MB decks usually end under 1 MB.
- If you need print quality, choose Light and no target: images stay at 300 DPI.
- A PDF that is mostly text and already small will come back unchanged; that is expected.
Why it is private
Everything you type or drop here is handled by your browser, on your device. Nothing is uploaded. To verify, open your browser's developer tools, go to the Network tab, and use the tool: you will see no request carrying your data.
Frequently asked questions
- Will the compressed PDF print fine?
- At the recommended level images are 150 DPI, good for office printing. For a print shop use Light (300 DPI).
- Does it work on password-protected PDFs?
- Not yet; remove the password first. The tool tells you when a file is encrypted.
