Crop image to 16:9
16:9 is the shape of every screen and video: YouTube thumbnails, presentation slides, website headers and desktop wallpapers. This page opens the crop tool with the 16:9 ratio locked, so the frame keeps the widescreen shape while you move it or drag its corners and edges. Swap sides to get 9:16 for a vertical video cover or a phone wallpaper.
Nothing is uploaded: the crop is cut from the full-resolution photo in your browser. Combine it with an exact size, or send the crop to the resize tool for 1280×720 or 1920×1080 output; the chain button under the result does this in one click.
Tips
- YouTube thumbnails are 1280×720: crop to 16:9 here, then resize to that width.
- Keep important content away from the lower right corner of a thumbnail, where the duration badge sits.
- For a phone wallpaper tick Swap sides to crop at 9:16 instead.
Why it is private
Everything you type or drop here is handled by your browser, on your device. Nothing is uploaded. To verify, open your browser's developer tools, go to the Network tab, and use the tool: you will see no request carrying your data.
