Convert HEIC to JPG

iPhones save photos as HEIC, a format that many Windows PCs, websites and older apps cannot open. JPG opens everywhere. This page presets JPG at quality 90, which keeps the photo visually identical while making it universal. Drop one HEIC or fifty; each becomes a JPG with the same name.

Options

Decoding happens in your browser with libheif, so the photos are not uploaded anywhere. Orientation is applied, so portraits stay upright, and the location data embedded by the phone is removed.

Tips

  • To stop the iPhone from producing HEIC at all: Settings, Camera, Formats, Most Compatible.
  • Live Photos convert to a still image; the short video part is not kept.
  • If a file is a .HEIF from another device (some Samsung and Canon models), it converts the same way.

Why it is private

Everything you type or drop here is handled by your browser, on your device. Nothing is uploaded. To verify, open your browser's developer tools, go to the Network tab, and use the tool: you will see no request carrying your data.

Frequently asked questions

Does the JPG lose quality?
At quality 90 the difference from the HEIC original is not visible; the JPG is usually 1.5–2 times larger, because HEIC compresses better.
Why does my browser say the format is not supported?
Very old browsers lack WebAssembly or the APIs we use. Any current Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari works.
