Convert PNG to JPG

PNG is perfect for screenshots and graphics but makes photos several times larger than they need to be, and some forms only accept JPG. This preset converts to JPG at quality 92, a setting that is visually lossless for photos while cutting the size by 60–80%. Transparent areas are flattened onto white, because JPG has no transparency.

Options

The conversion runs in your browser; your files are not uploaded.

Tips

  • Keep screenshots with small text as PNG; JPG adds faint halos around letters.
  • If the PNG is a scan or a photo, quality 85 is usually enough and 30% smaller again.
  • Need a different background colour than white? Open the PNG in any editor, add a fill layer, then convert.

Why it is private

Everything you type or drop here is handled by your browser, on your device. Nothing is uploaded. To verify, open your browser's developer tools, go to the Network tab, and use the tool: you will see no request carrying your data.

Frequently asked questions

Is the conversion lossless?
No. JPG always compresses with loss; at quality 92 the loss is not visible on photos.
Can I convert JPG back to PNG later?
Yes, with the WebP/PNG options of the converter, but the detail lost in JPG is not recovered. Keep your originals.
