Convert WebP to PNG
Images saved from websites often arrive as WebP, which some editors, office apps and upload forms still reject. PNG is accepted everywhere and, unlike JPG, keeps transparency and sharp text. This preset converts to PNG with lossless optimisation, so logos, icons and screenshots come out pixel-perfect.
Options
Conversion runs on your device with the same codecs used by Squoosh; nothing is uploaded.
Tips
- Photos saved as WebP become large PNG files; if the photo has no transparency, convert to JPG instead to keep it small.
- Animated WebP converts to a still image of the first frame.
- To stop Chrome from saving WebP, right-click the image and choose Copy image, then paste it here with Ctrl+V.
Why it is private
Everything you type or drop here is handled by your browser, on your device. Nothing is uploaded. To verify, open your browser's developer tools, go to the Network tab, and use the tool: you will see no request carrying your data.
Frequently asked questions
- Is transparency kept?
- Yes. Transparent areas in the WebP stay transparent in the PNG.
- Why is the PNG bigger than the WebP?
- PNG is lossless. The size reflects the real pixel data; the WebP was compressed with loss.
