WhatsApp QR code generator
A WhatsApp QR code is a link in a square: scanned with the camera, it opens a chat with your number, with a first message already in the box if you want one. The link has a fixed form: https://wa.me/ followed by the number with the country code and without the plus sign, spaces or dashes, then ?text= and the message. For a Romanian number that is https://wa.me/40712345678?text=Hello. This page opens the generator on the link type: paste that address and the code is drawn as you type.
Many codes at once (batch)
One value per line, or a CSV (first column); up to 1,000 codes, downloaded as a ZIP with the current style.
Fill in the details to generate the code.
Shops put it in the window and on the receipt, restaurants on the menu, plumbers on the van, freelancers on the business card. The number and the message are encoded in the picture itself, in your browser: no account, no redirect through a server, so the code never expires and nobody can count or track the scans. Download PNG for a flyer or a chat, SVG for a printer or a designer.
Tips
- Keep the first message short and useful, such as Hello, I am writing about the ad; the person can still edit it before sending.
- Test with two phones before printing: one with WhatsApp installed and one without, to see what each shows.
- Adding a logo raises the error correction to level Q on its own; for a sticker that will get scratched or wet, pick H by hand and print it bigger.
Why it is private
Everything you type or drop here is handled by your browser, on your device. Nothing is uploaded. To verify, open your browser's developer tools, go to the Network tab, and use the tool: you will see no request carrying your data.
Frequently asked questions
- Which number format goes in the link?
- Country code and number only: 40 for Romania, 34 for Spain, 55 for Brazil, then the number without the leading zero. No plus, no spaces, no brackets. Keep the message to plain words; browsers encode spaces on their own, but accents and symbols are safer written out.
- What does the person see when they scan?
- The camera shows the wa.me link; tapping it opens WhatsApp with a chat on your number, or WhatsApp's web page if the app is not installed. What happens after that is up to WhatsApp and to the person.
- PNG or SVG, and what size?
- SVG scales to any print size without blur. PNG goes up to 2048 pixels here, enough for an A4 poster; the default of 512 is fine for screens and chat. Dark dots on a light background scan best.
