Split a PDF in half

A file too large for an e-mail attachment, a book you want to read in two sittings, a batch of forms to hand to two people: this preset cuts a PDF into two documents of equal length, the first half and the second half, each named after the pages it contains. Set the number of parts to 3, 4 or more to share the pages out evenly; when the page count does not divide, the last part takes the rest.

Options

Everything runs locally in your browser. The original is never uploaded, and the halves keep the quality, title and author of the source.

Tips

  • An 11-page file gives parts of 6 and 5 pages; the page strip shows the count before you cut.
  • To cut at an exact page instead, use "Extract pages" twice: 1-5 and 6-.
  • Both halves are in one ZIP; download it once and unpack.

Why it is private

Everything you type or drop here is handled by your browser, on your device. Nothing is uploaded. To verify, open your browser's developer tools, go to the Network tab, and use the tool: you will see no request carrying your data.

Frequently asked questions

Where is the cut made?
After half the pages, rounded up: 10 pages become 5 + 5, 11 pages become 6 + 5.
Can I split into more than two parts?
Yes. Set the number of parts in the options; the tool divides the pages as evenly as it can.
